About Us

Pam is a Texas State Licensed Insurance Professional with many years of experience, ranging from the claims side of business, to being licensed in pharmacy, to finding her niche in the Group Benefits Industry. She is strongly committed to providing clients with information and tools for creating and managing benefit packages for their business and employees. She has worked here at Benefit Solutions by Design since 2019. 

With a major move from Tennessee to the Great State of Texas at the old age of 20, Pam worked hard establishing roots in the North Dallas area while raising her two children to become successful in the fields of Law Enforcement/Canine Training and Computer Animation.  

Now she enjoys four grandchildren, two German Shepherds and Mac the Cat. Love of music is number one as far as relaxation, and reading is a close second!

Gayle was raised in Lovelady, Texas. After she married, they moved to Richardson in 1966 and then to Plano in 1970. She started out her adult life as a nurse. She always loved older people (and now she is one of them). She has been married to her husband for 59 years. He worked for Collins Radio / Rockwell / Alcatel for 36 years. They have three daughters and sons-in-law, as well as three awesome grandchildren (just ask her).  

Gayle has worked for Tamela for seven years and loves talking to each person that calls. She does her best to listen to the needs of each person that calls or comes into the office. She says she has been blessed to work with many smart, caring, helpful people and it has made coming to work a pleasure.

As a native Texan, Tamela Southan, CEO & Agent, is a passionate insurance professional with over 35 years of experience in the benefit industry. She is dedicated to providing clients, associates and consumers with a solid knowledge and understanding of benefits, designed to suit their needs now and into the future.

With a background starting from her East Texas roots, Tamela moved to the big D to obtain her degree at the University of Texas Dallas. She accepted her first job as a licensed insurance agent with a large and prominent Brokerage Agency in Dallas. She then moved on to Washington, DC heading up as Regional Implementation and Sales with CONEXIS national accounts for five years. Finally, she returned to Dallas and opened her own agency, based in Richardson, TX. She’s got her roots back! 

Tamela enjoys the fun, funky East Dallas -White Rock neighborhood, with fun walks / runs around the lake with her Great Dane, Apollo. 

Chris is our resident expert for Property and Casualty benefits. He develops and distributes comprehensive solutions for Auto, Home and Liability coverage. He is a "double agent," also holding a health and life license.

Chris brings more than 20 years of business management and operations experience. Prior to joining Benefit Solutions by Design, Chris was a Seismic Analyst and Engineer. With the downsizing and current environment in the oil and gas industry, Chris decided a change was needed. He is dedicated to his clients and is tenacious in obtaining the best and most affordable coverage to put clients' minds at ease.   

Chris has a Bachelor of Science, Marine Science Degree from Texas A & M University and an Associate of Applied Science Degree.      

Outside of the office, Chris is very involved with his neighborhood and serves as a Community Certified Emergency Response team member. He loves to spend time working around the house and playing with his dog, Apollo the Great Dane. He's also an avid Red Wings hockey fan and loves to play hockey and golf, as well as scuba dive.
